About name.pk

"name.pk" domains are .PK domain names without the standard suffix such as .com.pk, .net.pk.

The open registration period, on a first come, first served basis, was started on June 20th, 2006.

Applications for these domains must conform to the PKNIC registration policy agreement in addition to the requirements given below. In the case of any difference between the PKNIC registration policy and the specific name.pk terms and conditions described below, the name.pk terms and conditions will apply.

1. The maximum domain name length is 63 characters (excluding the .pk portion).  
2. The minimum length for the domain name, exclusive of the .pk portion is four characters (e.g. 1234.pk) . A four character name before .pk can not start with one of the PKNIC second level sub-domains (e.g. com, net, org, gov, gop, etc.). For example the following domain names are not acceptable:  (coms.pk, comm.pk, nets.pk, net2.pk, govs.pk, etc). The complete list of the .PK current and reserved sub-domains includes but is not limited to .COM.PK, .NET.PK, .EDU.PK, .ORG.PK, .FAM.PK, .BIZ.PK, .WEB.PK, .GOV.PK, .GOB.PK, .GOK.PK, .GKP.PK, .GOP.PK, .GOS.PK, .INFO.PK  
3. Generic dictionary words are allowed (unless they violate other terms set forth here or in the general PKNIC Registration Policy).
4. The domains under the existing third level namespace, e.g. name.com.pk, will continue to be registered according to the existing rules and procedures.   
5. The domain name is not present in the list of reserved or blocked names.  Examples of reserved namespace are INFO.PK, NAME.PK, etc.
6. Domain names are not required to have pre configured name servers for them.

PAYMENT:    For domain registrant based in Pakistan, a domain fee of Rs 1000 per year will be charged for name.pk domains. For domain registrant or their registrar located outside Pakistan, a fee of $24 per domain per year is charged. The fee is charged on a biennial basis (two year period) and can be paid up to a maximum of ten years. Payment can be made online by credit card, or by sending a bank draft or cheques to PKNIC locations.

PRE-PAYMENT: The funds must be available in the account before a domain can be registered (or paid by credit card at the time of registration).
